Sending in a Round

I run WinXP-Home Edition, and IncrediMail is my email client, so I'm not sure this will apply to everyone. I started out by downloading the TGC Launcher, and extracting it to my hard-drive. Ran the setup program, and extracted the files to a folder I named: TGC2005. grabbed the RLaunch#.exe program, drug it out to my desktop, and created a shortcut. I launch all my rounds from my desktop by clicking on the TGC_Launcher icon, and I make sure I have everything closed, including my email program.

1. After clicking on the TGC_Launcher icon, this is the first screen I see:

2. I click the radio button for the event and level of play, and this is what I see.

I click on [Play the Selected Round].

3. ... and this is the next screen I see:

I click on [Open], and the game is launched.

4. After my round has been completed, the next thing I see is my scorecard,
and at the bottom of the scorecard screen is an option menu.

   Click on the print button.

This opens up the Printer Options screen.

Enable the Create a text file only option by clicking on the radio button.
In the Text Filename field, you do NOT have to rename the file to anything special.
Everyone can submit as SCORE.TXT and GAMESTAT.TXT, and the system will route it to the correct person, tour, event, and week.
They CAN rename the files for their own benefit, but be careful:
The scoring system will use masks of SCOR*.TXT and GAME*.TXT, so your modified filename must fit that mask.
In fact, it would be far better if you NEVER used spaces in a filename. Use an underscore_character_if_you_want_a_visual_break.
Unlike VER files, which are mandatory for scoring, SCOR*.TXT and GAME*.TXT are VOLUNTARY.
They will not be accepted as "late submissions" or "I forgot"; however, they MUST accompany the mail-in round,
or your stats will simply not be counted for that round.
(This rule does allow for abuse if a player intentionally fails to submit "bad stat" rounds, so we reserve the right
to later disallow stats if a player does not submit them for all four rounds of an event.)

If you have a previous version of the filename you want to save, you will be asked if you want to overwrite it.

Select the appropriate option for you particular case (you will then be returned to the printer options screen where you click on [OK].

5. The next screen you will see is your Stats screen, with a Print option button.

Click on this print button. This opens up another Printer Options screen.

Enable the Create a text file only option by clicking on the radio button.
(The same file naming conventions apply here, as they did with the scorecard).

6. After I click [OK], I see a [Send Results?] screen.

   I type in my [First Name]space[Last Name]space[A, C or P] ie, Warren Peters P
This format is critical in getting your name on the leaderboards correctly.
You also have the option to click [Save], which will take you to a screen where you can save a backup copy to your HD.

7. After my round has been completed, and I've looked over my scorecard and game stats,
I click [OK], and see a [Send Results?] screen.

   I type in my [First Name]space[Last Name]space[A, C or P] ie, Warren Peters P
This format is critical in getting your name on the leaderboards correctly.
You also have the option to click [Save], which will take you to a screen where you can save the .ver file to your HD
before trying to send the round to the TGC server. I then click [Send].

6. I am then taken out to my desktop, and here is where the email message screens will differ according to what default email client the player is using. I am using IncrediMail, so I only have a screenshot of the IM message screen.

IncrediMail users will click on [Show]. This will open up the IM email program, and here is where you attach your scorecard and stats files.
The mail window is different for Outlook Office 2003 from Outlook (2000). Some players use Eudora successfully. The paperclip exists in all three,
but if there is no paperclip on the toolbar, you can find Attach on the menu.

7. I go back into the Links game

8. I see a message screen

   and click [OK]

9. Next, I see the [Send Results?] screen again.

   and I Click [Close]

10. Now, I exit the Links game, the TGC_Launcher screen is still there, and I'm ready to launch another round.

Hope this helps.
