| Hill Belts Bunch of Base Hits Thursday, September 23rd, 2010: 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory... your 5 minutes of fame... you get your name in the record book.
In the Isotopes 17-10 win over Salem, Pete Hill was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Tiger Stadium.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for a 5-hit game. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
On his big day Hill delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
P. Hill doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, doubled in the 6th and struck out in the 9th.
In 2010 Hill is currently batting .350 with 25 home runs and 81 RBIs. In 153 games he has reached base at a .435 rate and scored 88 runs to date. | |
