| 5 Hits for Ghosts of '69 Hartnett Friday, September 24th, 2010: On top of the Ghosts of '69 hit parade today was Gabby Hartnett. He went to the plate 6 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Ghosts of '69 to a 13-0 victory over the New York Black Yankees.
The sweet swinging catcher told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
The skipper of the Black Yankees wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
G. Hartnett hit a solo-shot off G. McQuillan in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
This season Hartnett has delivered 176 hits in 634 at-bats for a .278 average with 26 home runs. He is getting on base at a .306 clip and his totals also include 108 RBIs and 94 runs scored. This year Hartnett has played in 142 games. | |
