 | Brett Hitless, Stopped by Diamonds Friday, September 24th, 2010: It was the best of both worlds for the College View Diamonds today at Coors Field as they defeated the Clear Lake Shores Titans 9-7 and also ended George Brett's 20-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old Clear Lake Shores third baseman failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats. "Nothing personal against George, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Diamonds skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Brett frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game." Brett has a .355 average and a .387 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 245 hits, 21 home runs and driven in 95 runs. |
