| National League Picks Top Performer Monday, September 27th, 2010: In the twilight of his career, 35-year-old Roy Campanella of St. Louis recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the National League Player of the Week Award.
"I've been playing since I was a kid," Campanella told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success."
Campanella outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 11 hits in 28 at-bats, 5 home runs and 11 RBIs to stake his claim to the award.
This season Campanella is batting at a .231 clip with 17 home runs and 71 RBIs. | |
