| Fournier Raps Portland for 5 Hits Tuesday, September 21st, 2010: All game long Las Vegas's Jack Fournier was rattling the walls at Forbes Field and banging out base hits against the Portland Gladiators and when the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a career day, a 5-hit day, but no victory. The Gladiators defeated the Expos 3-2 to take a little of the glitter of the occasion away.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 37-year-old first baseman lamented, "To get 5 hits and win a ballgame, that would have been a very special day. But we didn't win today. It's not easy to be happy when you lose. Only losers do that."
In all, Fournier collected 5 hits in 9 at-bats and a spot in the record book.
J. Fournier doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, singled in the 13th, grounded out in the 15th, struck out in the 17th, walked in the 19th and singled in the 21st.
In this current campaign Fournier is hitting at a .318 clip with 11 home runs and 58 RBIs. | |
