| Sisler Bats .406 for the Year Tuesday, September 28th, 2010: George Sisler of Calcutta has joined a mere handful of men to hit over .400 for a single season. The 31-year-old Indians first baseman hit .406 in a colossal year at the plate, rapping out 278 hits, 50 doubles, 7 triples and 11 home runs. Baseball's latest member of the elite .400 club also drove in 77 runs and scored 128.
"As much as I could, I tried to just forget about hitting .400 and just focus on each at-bat and trying to help my club," Sisler told BNN. "But as you guys know, there is no way to quietly hit .400." | |
