Trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the 9th, the Wilmington Powerhouse rallied for three runs, and beat the Ghosts of '69 3-2 to win the American League Division Series, and advance the the ALCS to meet Framingham. With two out, the bases loaded, and the game tied, Billy Hamilton singled to shallow center field, scoring Al Wingo wi the winning run. The Ghosts' Toad Ramsey pitched 2-hit ball for eight innings, and when he walked Wingo to leadoff the 9th, was replaced by Ralph Works.

W: Hughes 1-0 L: McBride 0-1 SV: None
HR: OCE-Clarke(1) NOTE: Fred Clarke hit a GW-HR in the 13th
With one out in the bottom of the 13th, Fred Clarke hit a homerun to deep right-center, giving Oceanside a 6-5 win over Portland, and the Cardinals advance to the NLCS.

The Ghosts' Bib Falk homered in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game, but Wilmington rallied back in the top of the 10th, scoring two runs to down the Ghosts 5-3. Billy Hamilton had three hits, and Buddy Myer drove in a pair of runs for the Powerhouse. For the Ghosts, Bug Holliday had two hits, and Bill Lange had two RBIs. The Series is tied at 2-2.

OCEANSIDE
Portland 8, Oceanside 7
W: Gossage 1-0 L: Sanders 0-1 SV: Williams(1)
HR: POR-Kluszewski(2)
Portland's Sam Thompson doubled in two runs in the top of the 8th, and the Gladiators held on to top Oceanside 8-7. Ted Kluszewski hit a 3-run homerun in the first inning for Portland. Davey Force had three hits for the Cardinals. Oceanside leads the series 2-1.

LOUISVILLE
Framingham 14, Louisville 7

HR: FRA-Mathews(1), OCE-Wrightstone(1)
Framingham swept their series with a 14-7 victory over Louisville. Cap Anson had four hits, Sam Crawford had three hits and four RBIs and Eddie Mathews hit his first homerun of the playoffs for the Rug Rats. Russ Wrightstone had three hits including a homerun for the Sluggers. Framingham will play the winner of the Ghosts-Wilmington series for the American League Championship.

Oroville 2, Motown 1(12)

HR: ORO-Bell(2) NOTE: Jay Bell hit a GW-HR in the 12th
Once again, Oroville's Jay Bell was a hero, hitting a homerun in the top of the 12th to give the Padres a 2-1 win over Motown, and a sweep of their series. In the bottom of the ninth, Oroville centerfielder George Gore dropped Dick Wakefield's flyball allowing Hugh Duffy to score the tying run. Oroville will play the winner of the Oceanside-Portland series for the National League Championship.

Jack "The Giant Killer" Pfiester gave up just two hits in six innings, and Wilmington shutout the Ghosts 3-0, to stay alive in their series. Joe Sewell had two hits and drove in two runs to lead the Powerhouse. The Ghosts lead the series 2-1.

Jeff Tesreau pitched 2-hit ball for eight innings, Greg Minton struckout all three batters he faced in the ninth, and Framingham took a 2-0 lead in their Division Playoff with a 2-0 shutout victory over Louisville. Lou Gehrig drove in both Rug Rats runs with a 2-run double in the bottom of the 8th.

Oceanside built up a 5-1 lead after three innings, and went on to down Portland 7-4 in the first game of their playoff series. Al Simmons homered for the Cardinals, while Mike Griffin, Ted Kluszewski and Bing Miller went deep for the Gladiators.

Doggie Miller walked with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth forcing in Jimmie Foxx with the winning run, and Oroville slipped by Motown 8-7. Hubie Brooks had three hits for the Padres, and Debs Garms drove in three runs for the Wildcats.
